Our Coffee Roasts
Here at High Bar Coffee, we roast several different varieties of coffee beans as they are seasonally, responsibly and sustainably available. For those reasons we always have a new roast for you to enjoy, and we may sell out of certain roasts quickly.
Current Roasts:
Tanzania – Light
This light-roasted Tanzania coffee is akin to Kenyan coffees. It is sweet with juicy notes of fruit like grapefruit and papaya, finishing with tannic notes of black tea. This coffee is a wonderful pour over and does nicely in a drip brewer.
Burundi – Medium
This coffee from Burundi is a welcomed addition to our lineup with notes of brown sugar, clove and sweet lime. This coffee has a sweetness that carries through the mellow spice notes and balances nicely with citrus top notes. Overall, this coffee is versatile and does great as an everyday drip brew or as a special pour over on the weekend.
Java – Dark
This bean from Java is for dark roast lovers! The bittersweet flavors from this coffee are like creme brûlée and toasted marshmallow. There is an undeniable sweetness to this coffee, but it is linked tightly to the roast notes that come through in a smokiness that dark roast enthusiasts will love. This coffee is a great drip brew or french press.
Espresso Blend - Dark
Our espresso blend offers a classic espresso expression while delivering on the smooth flavor profile that you expect from High Bar Coffee. Central American and African beans combine to bring a chocolatey body and fruity top notes that hold up nicely in milk drinks. This coffee is also great as a drip brew if you are looking for something bold that also has some fruity top notes.
Barrel Aged Burundi - Medium
Barrel aging our beans has provided a way to draw out more unique traits of each bean. We roast our beans immediately prior to placing them in a wet (recently emptied) whiskey barrel from Old Pepper Distillery. We pair the type of barrel (bourbon, rye whiskey, etc.) with the character of the bean we’ve roasted for the best possible brew for you. Each of these coffees are uniquely delicious and intriguing. This coffee from Burundi offers an aromatic vanilla note followed by oak and chocolate on the palate. We hope you enjoy this unique coffee as much as we do.
Guatemala SWP Decaf - Medium/Light
Swiss Water Processing (SWP) takes out more caffeine than other methods of decaffeinating and does not use intrusive chemicals. This Guatemalan coffee is a great crowd pleasing roast with mellow notes of chocolate and nuts. This is a nice brewed coffee and works well as a single origin decaf espresso.
